Shadow

Nick is in such a fun and exciting time developmentally and he keeps figuring out and discovering new things. Recently, he found his shadow! It was so cute. He saw it on the wall and crawled over as fast as he could and started "climbing" up the wall. Poor little guy got frustrated that he couldn't "grab it". Regardless it was super cute!

Also this week he has figured out how to pull up to standing from sitting and then he can sit back down! I've been trying to capture it in a video... but that is much easier said than done...
Over the course of the last 10 days, Nick has really started to get the hang of crawling. He has definitely moved up from the army crawl I posted originally. He still tends to crawl on one foot and kind of drag the other behind, but he's gotten a lot faster at it.

8 Month Pro Pix

A few weeks ago we went to Prairie Grove Battlefied State Park and had some professional pictures taken. Between the heat and it being 5pm Nick became really fussy, really fast. However, before he completely melted down we were able to get some great family pictures!

So cute!

Standing
Flying baby

It's too bad that we don't have any pictures of Eric and Nick where they both look good at the same time.
Shortly after this picture was taken, Nick discovered walnuts (in the green shell) on the ground and proceeded to chew on them... he won't eat vegetables, but he'll eat walnuts... hmmm.

Working hard

Poor little Nick has been sick this week, so on Monday he stayed home with Eric. Although this was a sick day, Nick was hard at work.

As you can see he's already fascinated by technology and computers... hopefully he'll become good at repairing them when I break them...

Fruits and vegetables

Today was your typical Saturday and we went grocery shopping at Walmart. Eric apparently got bored with shopping and instead decided to take some pictures of Nick... with fruit
And then some pictures with vegetables. The ironic part of this is that Nick HATES vegetables. He will not eat them any more. No matter what I do...

Except for raw broccoli (although right after doing this he made his this is disgusting face).
Hmmm I wonder if he would actually eat a red pepper... or just smile for it...
Happy weekend to all!

Moving and grooving

So this post is going to be short and sweet because I have to get to work. There are only pictures today... but I'm positive you'll enjoy them. We're not really sure when Nick figured out this scooting/kind of crawling/pulling himself along the floor but it's precious!!!

Adventures with Daddy!

For three day this week Montessori was closed for teacher in-service days. Since Eric has way more vacation and time off than I do, he took the time off to spend with Nick (lucky Daddy!). On Thursday Eric took Nick to baby bookworms at the public library so here are some pictures from their adventures...
Before they got to the library they stopped by the Fayetteville square and the fire department was showing off their truck for kids - and here are some adorable pictures.
All 27 inches of Nick pales in comparison to the fire truck and however many inches it is.
Another shot at the square by the rocks and fountain... so pretty!
Our little book worm!
To finish the morning adventures they stopped by the University of Arkansas to let the dogs run around and play catch. Nick, as usual, would not smile or look at the camera... but he is fascinated with Sam.

And if all of these pictures and adventures aren't enough, when the boys got home here is a super cute video of Nick playing with a ballon! Enjoy

I want to crawl!

This morning started out as any typical morning... I hit the snooze button one too many times, so I was running late, the dogs were begging to be fed, I was running around doing a million things... and of course Nick wakes up in the middle of this!
As usual, I changed Nick and put him in his play mat while showered, etc.
However, this morning he decided that he wanted to get out of it... being outside and mobile is way more fun if you're Nick.
He never got very far, but boy did he try. Every day he rocks more on his hands and knees and gets a little closer to actually being mobile...

Nap time

We put Nick down for his morning nap this morning, again in the usual position on his back with his head closest to the windows (basically he's done a 180 in the pictures below). And this is how we found him....
We didn't want to wake the poor thing to move his legs... so we left him. When he woke up, he was thankfully too sleepy to realize that his legs were sticking out of the crib!

Crib bumpers will be put back in the crib shortly...

Sitting...

So what is so special about Nick sitting? We all know that he's been able to sit on his own for awhile now. But what is different about this picture is the fact that when we put him in his crib to begin with, he was laying down on his back. On top of that, he apparently likes to put his paci in his mouth and let it hang out to the side... precious.

Needless to say we just lowered the crib mattress down one level.

Peek-A-Boo

This evening Nick was really fussy before bed... it had been a long event-filled day (think park, hanging out all day with the coolest parents ever, etc). We decided to try sitting him on our bed to calm him/play with him for a bit before bed, when Eric got the great idea to play peek-a-boo with Nick. It's only in the last few days that Nick has figured out that peek-a-boo is a game. Before that he would just look at us with a puzzled expression. Below is the result...

And if the videos aren't enough... here are some pictures!!

A day at the park

We've been meaning to take Nick to the park for some time now, but with the really really warm, sunny weather we haven't had a good chance to... until this morning! We walked down with the dogs to Wilson Park and enjoyed the playground!
Eric took Nick down the slide. This was his first time on a slide and he seemed to really enjoy it.
At the bottom of the slide... and of course, I couldn't get both Eric and Nick to look at me at the same time and take a picture while holding onto both dogs...
After the slide, we let Nick go on the swings, again his first time! We've gently swung him in this jumper and he loved it... the real swings were no different. He really enjoyed the swinging motion and it seemed to calm him... somehow I have memories of all the time he spent in his baby swing when he was a newborn coming back to me!

After the swings, we went over to the little kid play area so Nick could explore more. Somehow I managed to get myself into this lion thing... I barely made it out (not because I was "stuck" per say, but because it was really short!). As you can see Nick loved sitting on my lap.
Last but not least, Eric took Nick on the dinosaur looking thing. Nick enjoyed a) avoiding making eye contact with the camera and b) hitting it.

More adventures in solid foods

Nick is doing great so far with solids. He's expanded his culinary choices quite a bit since we first started solids and now we're slowly trying to move on to finger foods. To help with this concept and teething we tried a mini bagel this morning.
He figured out to put it in his mouth and chew on it. But um yeah like most new things... he wasn't too fond of it.
In the end we decided to take it away from him because it wasn't frozen enough, so he couldn't get it moist/dissolved enough to properly swallow it. Maybe tomorrow this will work better, once the bagels are frozen...
After the bagel we switched back to some old faithfuls. We tried blueberry flavored puffs today. He sort of likes them... but I have to put them in his mouth for him. They are still too little and he doesn't have enough dexterity to be able to grasp them between this thumb and finger and eat them.... oh well, baby steps...
