Play time

This week Nick has gotten really good at holding his toys and rattles.  He gets really frustrated when he tries to put them in his mouth and "eat" them.  He has yet to figure out that he can't fit his fist and a toy in at the same time, and he hasn't totally figured out how to "eat" his toys yet either.  Poor boy, it's hard being a baby!
Nick is totally fascinated by the tree toy from Grandma.  He loves to hold it and touch, pull and attempt to eat everything coming off of it!  It's the perfect size to fit in his tiny hands.
So you may be wondering why Nick has been wearing a bib in so many pictures lately.  That is because over the last few weeks he has become a total drool master.  At daycare they had to change his clothes twice last week because his onesie was soaked with spit/drool!  According to Miss Linda (his teacher) this is a sign of teething... but don't get too excited yet... she said it can take months before any teeth show.
Nick was having tons of fun with all of his toys this morning.  He was loving being able to hold,  move and taste them all!  He especially loves the red rattle in his hand and his tree toy.
He's just so cute, I can't get enough!  Although if you look closely, you may have noticed that he has less and less hair in each picture.  Every day he looses more and more hair... we find it on his brush, his sheets, his bouncer.  He is totally balding and it's so sad!  I've thought about super gluing what is left... but Eric won't let me.  No fun!

Puppy love

From the beginning both Sammy and Bailey have loved little Nick.  Bailey always wants to "clean" Nick's ears and his face... he's discovered that babies are messy eaters and he can lick up the milk remains.  Sammy loves to lick Nick's little feet (although we have no pictures to prove this).
Bailey's love extends so far that he even likes to nap in Nick's toys!  We found him literally in Nick's activity mat on Christmas, just hanging out.
Nick was 12 days old in the picture above, and Bailey could not resist the smell of baby bottom.  He would probably lick Nick all day if we let him.
When we first came home from the hospital, all of the animals wanted some Nick love - even Miles, the cat, who isn't really a fan of any of us wanted in on the action.  Until this point Miles really hasn't shown any interest in Nick, which is not surprising since we think he may hate us.  However, last Sunday Nick was napping and we found this:
Yes, that's right, Miles is sleeping ON Nick!!  He jumped up on the couch, kneaded his paws on the blanket (and somehow Nick stayed asleep) and then curled up and proceeded to take a nap with him!  We were shocked.  Thankfully Nick has "chunked" up and he and the cat weigh about the same.  Then later that night we found paw prints on the railing of Nick's crib... I wonder how long it will be before we find Miles in the crib with Nick....

Pictures, pictures, pictures

So since we're new to the whole blogging thing and it's been awhile since we've sent out any pictures/updates, here you go!  The picture to the left was taken yesterday - Nick was wearing his brand new sunglasses!  He hates having the sun in his eyes and definitely like being able to see in the sun.
Nick was super happy yesterday, and he actually smiled while the camera was in front of him so we figured we should capture the moment.  For some reason he does not like to smile for the camera.  He can be laughing and smiling and the second we pull out the camera, he stops and won't start again until the camera is gone.... obviously, this makes it difficult to take cute pictures!
My favorite sunglass shot!  Not only is he displaying his new shades (that we can strap to his head so they won't fall off!  Best $6 we've spent in a long time!) but he's showing off his sitting skills (he's getting really good at it) and his chubby little hands.  So precious!
Bath time a few weeks ago.  The sun was coming into the kitchen and Nick just looked so sweet.  Can  you tell I'm totally obsessed with him?!?!
Clearly, Eric is burping Nick.  I think it's just so sweet when they're together, and it never ceases to amaze me how little Nick is!
Oh the exersaucer.  In theory once a baby is 4 months they can use (and like) this lovely contraption.  However, this is NOT at all the case for Nick.  Exersaucer = an epic fail!  He's still wayyyyyyyyy too small for it and as you can see his head doesn't come up above the seat part.  To top it off his feet are so far from the bottom it's rediculous.  After several attempts, he still wails when we put him in it.  Poor guy is tortured by his mean parents, all for pictures/their amusement.  Maybe one day he'll like it...
It's hard to believe how strong Nick is getting, and he's learning to grab and hold onto things.  He held onto and moved his rattle all by himself a few weeks ago.  He still needs help figuring out how to grasp things, but once he has them he doesn't let go!  This is becoming increasingly true for my hair.  Good times.

Nick's first bath in the real bath tub!  He loves to float in the water and splash around.  We can't wait to take him in the pool/lake/ocean this summer!!!  Don't worry, Eric is fully covered in a bathing suit.
