More Halloween Festivities

Finally I'm back from all of my travels! So if Nick hadn't already had enough Halloween fun, we took him to my work yesterday for another party. We definitely got a lot of use out of this costume!
Nick loved doing the cake walk. Essentially there were the numbers 1 - 10 on the floor and all of the kids walked around the numbers while music was playing. When the music stopped, you stopped on a number. If your number was called you got a prize. Nick did not care at all about the prizes, he just like the music and the walking.

One day, maybe when he's about 12 he will look at the camera while simultaneously smiling...

He got his face painted for the first time and sat very still while they painted the ghost.

Montessori Halloween Party

While I was away for work, I also missed the Montessori Halloween Party. Thankfully, Grandma and Daddy were able to take Nick.
In addition to traditional Halloween activities, they also had pony rides. Nick LOVED the pony rides and insisted on doing it again and again and again, even though the line was really long.

Nick's dragon costume was also very popular and several other little boys had the exact same one.

More rides on the ponies... like I said, he really loved the pony rides.
Of course after awhile we had to break for some food - the biggest hot dog ever!
But have no fear, we went back to the pony rides after eating!

Fun with Grandma

The past two weeks we have been so fortunate to have Grandma in town to visit and help out with Nick while I have been traveling with work! We have all been very spoiled! Nick loved to spend time with her and she enjoyed every second of it!
So I wasn't here while this happened, but apparently Nick thought that it would be a good idea to take a nap on the dining room table... hmmmm.
Later, Nick and Daddy took Grandma to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Nick loved eating the chips and the beans.

Nick especially loved when Grandma read him books, particularly if they were the Elmo or Cookie Monster ones.

Kisses

The other night at dinner Nick was feeling especially sweet towards me and kept wanting kisses. He loved the "mmmmm" sound that I made when I kissed him.

It was seriously so sweet and cute. He just kept saying more "mmm" and would lean in for a kiss. He is seriously such a sweet little boy!

Cookie Monster

Nick definitely has my sweet tooth, and he already LOVES chocolate. The other night I made the mistake of eating an oreo in front of him, and of course he had to have some. He ended up liking them so much that he ate like 4 of them!
He thoroughly enjoyed pulling them apart and eating the cream first.

He was definitely on a sugar high after all of that chocolate! But how can you say no to a face like that?!

Peanut goes to Washington Part 3

So the last day we were there we went to some more monuments and museums. We made the trek to the FDR Memorial. This was a trek a) because it's far away and b) there was this huge union rally going on at the same time. It was worth it though, because Nick loved all of the water.
He was very impressed by all of the water falls and kept getting so excited and jumping and dancing around.

He also loved climbing on the big rocks that surrounded the water. Uncle Peter did a great job ensuring that he didn't fall!
Okay so I know this is backwards but it's the way the pictures got loaded. Anyway, that morning while Daddy slept in, Uncle Peter went with Nick and I to the Smithsonian. The only thing that is open before 10 am is the Smithsonian Castle/garden, so that's where we headed.
Nick had a blast with Uncle Peter, especially saying his name! You can tell he already loves and admires his uncle.
Once the museums opened, we headed first to Natural History. Nick was impressed by the huge elephant in the lobby - he was so impressed that he could barely wait for my bag to be searched so that we could enter.
He loved looking at all of the dinosaur bones and fake mammals.
After Natural History, we headed over to the Air and Space museum. We went to the touch and fell area. Nick loved playing with the balloon. Peter enjoyed seeing all of the engineering things. Nick and I couldn't grasp these concepts, so we stuck to the simple things like balloons.
Nick loved all of the planes and rockets displayed throughout the museum. He kept saying "airplane" and "rocket"!
All in all we had an amazing trip. Big thank yous to Uncle Peter for coming down to hang out and helping us out and to Bonnie and Greg for making the trip down from NYC. It was so great to be back in the city and catch up with the people we love.

Peanut goes to Washington Part 2

After heading to the zoo and taking a long nap, we decided to check out some of the monuments down on the mall. They were getting ready for a huge rally the next day so there was a band setting up and playing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Nick loved to watch the band play, especially the drummer. Although there were too many people around to get him to dance...

After seeing the Lincoln Memorial we walked back towards the metro and stopped at the WWII Memorial. Nick loved all of the water and fountains.

And since it was so difficult to get him to look at the camera and smile, we stopped trying and just started taking pictures of the back of him!

Peanut goes to Washington!

So it's been awhile, but we finally have exciting stories and pictures! This week I was in DC for work and Nick and Eric came out to spend a long weekend. First things first, we took Nick to see the White House. He was very impressed with the water fountains.

After that we headed to the zoo. This is the first time that Nick has been to an actual zoo and he LOVED it!
Do you see the gorilla up in the back? There were three or four of them running around, Nick loved to watch them.
The lions were hungry and Nick enjoyed practicing saying "roar"!
The orangutans were interesting. There were a bunch of kids who were there watching them while we were there and they kept coming over to the window and spitting up (I don't even want to know what) onto the glass and licking it off. Yuck! Even Nick kept saying ew!
