So the last day we were there we went to some more monuments and museums. We made the trek to the FDR Memorial. This was a trek a) because it's far away and b) there was this huge union rally going on at the same time. It was worth it though, because Nick loved all of the water.
He was very impressed by all of the water falls and kept getting so excited and jumping and dancing around.
He also loved climbing on the big rocks that surrounded the water. Uncle Peter did a great job ensuring that he didn't fall!
Okay so I know this is backwards but it's the way the pictures got loaded. Anyway, that morning while Daddy slept in, Uncle Peter went with Nick and I to the Smithsonian. The only thing that is open before 10 am is the Smithsonian Castle/garden, so that's where we headed.
Nick had a blast with Uncle Peter, especially saying his name! You can tell he already loves and admires his uncle.
Once the museums opened, we headed first to Natural History. Nick was impressed by the huge elephant in the lobby - he was so impressed that he could barely wait for my bag to be searched so that we could enter.
He loved looking at all of the dinosaur bones and fake mammals.
After Natural History, we headed over to the Air and Space museum. We went to the touch and fell area. Nick loved playing with the balloon. Peter enjoyed seeing all of the engineering things. Nick and I couldn't grasp these concepts, so we stuck to the simple things like balloons.
Nick loved all of the planes and rockets displayed throughout the museum. He kept saying "airplane" and "rocket"!
All in all we had an amazing trip. Big thank yous to Uncle Peter for coming down to hang out and helping us out and to Bonnie and Greg for making the trip down from NYC. It was so great to be back in the city and catch up with the people we love.
